- Introducing my Digital Training Partner..

Before I dive into a summary of my training and preparation for my first triathlon I need to mention someone who has been on this journey with me form the start. Mike Hilton - Link to his blog   HERE Mike was a fairly close friend when we both studied at University together. The extent of our friendship consisted of some fairly regular gym sessions and the occasional night out. Since graduating though we hadn’t spoken much. However, I was aware that in 2015/2016 Mike had trimmed himself down and had a crack at a few triathlons. O nce I entered the London Triathlon I used this as an excuse to reach out to Mike and seek advice and wondered if he fancied the event himself. Within a couple of days, Mike registered. As mentioned before between Jan and April I didn’t give the event much thought. Mike and I exchanged messages infrequently, mainly around arrangements in July i.e. time off work, where to stay etc.

- Why I entered a Triathlon....

In January 2017, I registered for the AJ Bell Triathlon in London, an Olympic distance Triathlon consisting of; ·       1.5km swim ·       40km bike ·       10km run My next post will be the details of my training leading up to the AJ Bell Triathlon. At this point I had never completed a swimming or running event of any kind. I think the furthest I had ever run without it being on a rugby pitch would have been somewhere between 5-10km.  I did have some experience of cycling - as a teenager I rode trails and dirt jumps with the occasional cross-country ride. In the summer of 2016, I cycled from Brussels to Paris and Perpignan to Barcelona in two days each, both of these were purely for pleasure and a holiday with friends.
