Before I dive into a
summary of my training and preparation for my first triathlon I need to mention
someone who has been on this journey with me form the start.
Mike Hilton - Link to his blog HERE
Mike was a fairly
close friend when we both studied at University together. The extent of our
friendship consisted of some fairly regular gym sessions and the occasional
night out.
Since graduating
though we hadn’t spoken much. However, I was aware that in 2015/2016 Mike had
trimmed himself down and had a crack at a few triathlons.
Once I entered the London Triathlon I used this as an excuse to reach out to Mike and seek advice and wondered if he fancied the event himself. Within a couple of days, Mike registered.

As mentioned before
between Jan and April I didn’t give the event much thought. Mike and I
exchanged messages infrequently, mainly around arrangements in July i.e. time
off work, where to stay etc.
